Education Matters provides free counseling on visa documentation. The student must be able to show that he/she has been accepted on a full-time degree course of study at a university/college and is able to pay for the course and support an accommodation for him / her and any dependants without working.

These documents are submitted to the British High Commission through the VFS (Visa Facilitation Services) along with a visa fee of Rs.8450/- (please check for the correct fee at the time of applying)
VFS Global has recently launched a mammoth exercise in providing Biometrics service for UK visas at all its posts globally. Under this system, the applicant can visit a UK visa application center and have their finger scanned and digital photograph taken. This is done concurrently in order to link the fingerprints to the face of the visa applicant.
The digital photography and electronic finger scanning procedure is quick, discreet and entirely safe. The entire biometric process takes just five minutes.
The biometric data collected, is stored on a database in the UK and held strictly in accordance with United Kingdom legislation, including the Data Protection Act 1998.
The British High Commission or Embassy aims to make decisions on visa applications within a few working days. Although, this may take a slightly longer time during busy periods or if an interview is required. It is advisable to apply for your visa at least 1 month prior to your course. If your application is fully prepared, and accompanied by relevant documentary evidence of your circumstances, you may be issued a visa without an interview.
The final decision on whether you would require an interview or not, will be taken by an Entry Clearance Officer at the British High Commission or Embassy, no one else can make this decision.
If you are called for an interview, you are likely to get an appointment within the next 2 to 3 working days.
Submission of the visa application and collecting the visa will be at the VFS.
Interviews will be held at the British Deputy High Commission.

The following documents are mandatory to apply for visa:

Application form- VAF3 and the student's questionnaire duly filled and signed. |

The original passport valid for at least six months, with available
'visa' pages. |
|
* |
The original letter from the University/ College/ School confirming that you have been unconditionally accepted on a course of study and/or a period of research in the UK, and a statement of charges for the course and/or period of research (if appropriate). Details of accommodation and its cost, study hours per week and the start and end date of the proposed course should also be mentioned. |

Evidence of English language qualifications. |
|
* |
Original bank statements and loan sanction letters, fixed deposits, pay slips or other evidence to show that you can pay for your stay and your course of study in the UK, and evidence of the source of any large recent deposits. |
|
* |
If you are being privately sponsored (for example, by a relative etc), a letter of sponsorship, photocopies of their passport showing their immigration status in the country they reside, evidence of their financial status and available accommodation (if sponsor is in the UK). |
|
* |
All relevant educational certificates (X, XII, Degree mark sheets and certificates). |
|
* |
Work experience certificates (if any). |
|
* |
If you are following a certain type of Postgraduate study, an ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) Certificate will be required. |

* |
Evidence of government sponsorships (if appropriate). |
|
* |
Two Photographs (size 45mm height x35mm wide) taken in white background. |
